Angel Investors Durham (AID) Set To Ignite Innovation In Eastern Ontario

Dec 6, 2023

Oshawa, ON – November 30, 2023 – Angel Investors Durham (AID), Durham Region’s new angel investor group, spearheaded by founding partners Kleurvision and Spark Centre, officially launched on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.

The new angel group will seek investment opportunities in early-stage tech companies. Angel Investors Durham members will also be expected to provide mentorship and access to risk-capital networks, in addition to financial support.

The AID launch event – sponsored by Kleurvision, Spark Centre, Synergy Lab, Invest Clarington, Durham College, Jay Kilgannon of RBC Wealth Management and supportive community partner Angel Investors Ontario (AIO) – brought together a dynamic mix of investors, local entrepreneurs, political representatives, and community partners eager to learn about and engage with this transformative initiative.

“The community support and collaboration for the launch of AID has been outstanding and it goes to show that when angels work together, they can help founders achieve ultimate success,” says Frank Auddino, volunteer co-chair of Angel Investors Ontario’s Membership and Marketing Committee. “Companies can scale, jobs will be created, our communities will flourish and together we will grow the local, Ontario and Canadian economies.”

As part of this event, AIO representatives Frank Auddino and Angelo Del Duca, hosted a free training program to help local founders learn the ins and outs of raising capital and how to transform their good ideas into investor-ready companies.

“The Region of Durham is one of the fastest growing areas in economic and population growth in Canada, so launching AID on my home turf is extra special for me. The arrival of Angel Investors Durham will help early-stage founders with funding and resources to scale, while also providing accredited member investors an opportunity to provide capital, guidance, and mentorship for a potential substantial return on investment,” says Auddino.

Together, we will pave the way for a thriving ecosystem of innovation, entrepreneurship, and success.
