The Southwestern Ontario Angel Group (SWO Angels)

Catchment Area: London, Sarnia, St. Thomas

The Southwestern Ontario Angel Group (SWO Angels) is a not-for-profit corporation, founded in early 2008, with the goal of sourcing quality early-stage investment opportunities and presenting them to a like-minded community of Angel investors. The founding board members of SWO have been involved with Angel investing for a number of years and, through due diligence, education, and screening processes, we strive to achieve above average returns for our membership. In addition, our linkages with other Angel groups across the province will allow our membership to participate in other investment opportunities, as well as allow us to syndicate with other like-minded investors.

Recent Highlights

  • Forming Equation Angels alongside three other groups to gain efficiency in SWO’s process and use of resources.
  • The group adapted well to COVID-19 and pivoted to an online experience while still being able to engage members.
  • Recruiting Jon Mycio to be the group’s new chapter director, which released Carmen Gicante from the role into semiretirement.
