As a member of the Angel Investors Ontario team, you will gain exposure to the unique Angel Investing ecosystem. You will play a role in enabling early stage financing for start-up companies, while also developing and building Ontario’s Angel Investing ecosystem.

 

Manager, Business Operations

The Manager of Business Development & Operations of Angel Investors Ontario will be
a key executive in the organization with leadership responsibilities for creation of new
programs and coordination with partner organizations. Specifically, the Manager will
coordinate and oversee implementation of Angel Investors Ontario’s business services
and central tools, such as virtual angel groups, business processes and technological
support. He or she will be responsible for managing relationships with ANP-supported
Angel Groups and FedDev-backed outreach projects. The Manager will be responsible
for managing all metrics and assessments for the ANP program. He or she will also likely
supervise an Analyst/Program Manager, who will be a direct report and support the
coordination of due diligence and virtual events and new networks.

The Manager of Business Development & Operations will report to the President &
Executive Director.

 

RENUMERATION

 

This is a full time position (37.5 hours/week) with benefits. Remuneration is
commensurate with experience in the range of $50,000 to $58,000. Starting date is in
May 2018. Vacation time will be 3 weeks per annum plus any extra leave granted in-lieu
of significant overtime. Any pre-approved travel and other reasonable expenses
incurred will be reimbursed by Angel Investors Ontario.

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Program Management & Operations 

Manage and organize all virtual programs

Design and manage affinity group meetings and consultations

Manage the organizations of Angel Investors Ontario’s events designed to bring
together accredited investors, entrepreneurs and other community stakeholders

Support the collaborative/joint activities between OCE Inc & Angel Investors Ontario

Participate in general fundraising activities in support of the Angel Investors Ontario
and assist with the writing of proposals and grant applications, etc.

Manage the implementation of platform technologies

Operate within the established government program contribution agreement(s) to
ensure the rest of the department operates in the line with the contracts.

 

Metric & Reporting Management 

Manage the aggregation and management of Angel Group quarterly and annual
financial and performance metrics

Compile and analyze annual metrics for the Annual Report.

 

Business Development 

Visit Angel investor group meetings across Ontario and/or meet group managers and
local board directors, to perform needs assessments, gap analyses, progress
tracking, feedback development, etc.

Convene committees among members, directors or managers of the various Angel
investor groups in order to share and further develop best practice in such areas as
communications.

Develop and implement various materials, processes and/or publications that
improve a typical formal Angel group's capacity to recruit or retain/engage
accredited investor members.

Prepare and compile Board of Directors’ Meeting materials for review by the
President.

Manage Angel Investors Ontario’s internal operations to ensure that goals and tasks
are being met

Respond to all phone and email enquiries in a professional and timely manner.

 

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

 

Masters of Business Administration or other related Business discipline required

Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Program Management role

Highly developed, interpretive & analytical skills in various MS Office software

Proven leadership and management skills

Strong project management skills

Very organized with strong attention to detail

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Must have the ability to work both independently and within a team atmosphere

Self-motivated and independently driven

Willingness and ability to work in a small team environment

An interest in and knowledge of early-stage investment, entrepreneurship,
innovation, economic development and/or not-for-profits will be assets

Strong customer-service attitude to respond to inquiries from entrepreneurs

Ability to speak French an asset

Ability to speak Mandarin an asset

Ability to speak Arabic may be an asset.
